  • The company will refurbish a number of tanks to provide almost 150 million litres of additional petrol and diesel storage by mid-2025.
  • This investment will bolster the 100 million litres of additional storage which was brought on-line in June 2023.

MELBOURNE, Australia – Mobil Oil Australia (Mobil), a subsidiary of ExxonMobil Australia, is investing in additional fuel storage infrastructure at its Melbourne terminal, supporting Australia’s fuel security and cementing the company’s role as a critical supplier of fuel for Victoria and the east coast.

This latest investment will bolster the 100 million litres of storage which the company added to its Melbourne terminal in June 2023.

“Mobil continues to invest in strengthening our Australian fuel supply chain and maintaining the safe and reliable delivery of fuel where and when our customers need it,” said Andrew McNaught, Mobil Australian Sales Manager.

“Since 2022, we have been working to reinstate a number of tanks at our Melbourne terminal to provide almost 250 million litres of additional fuel storage by mid-2025.”

The additional storage at its Melbourne terminal will further increase the efficiency and security of Mobil’s Victorian supply chain.

“Increasing the storage capacity of our Melbourne terminal will support the reliable supply of quality Mobil fuels, while contributing to Australia’s fuel security goals,” said Mr McNaught.

Mobil is a major supplier of fuel to Australia, selling fuel to commercial customers, wholesalers and retailers, including 7-Eleven Australia.

As the operator of Melbourne’s largest fuel import and distribution terminal, Mobil is the only supplier who can bring fuel into both Sydney and Melbourne on Long Range 2 vessels, the largest ships available for transporting refined fuels.

“With capacity of up to 130 million litres, a single Long Range Vessel can carry enough fuel to fill almost half of the cars in Victoria,” said Mr McNaught.

“Having the ability to utilise Long Range Vessels significantly increases the efficiency of fuel import activities and having larger, fuller ships regularly delivering fuel to Australia supports our fuel security.”
